OTTAWA, May 5 (KUNA) -- Canada is looking forward to purchasing 30 armored
vehicles designed to detect bombs in order to confront rising attacks by the
Taliban in Afghanistan, a defense ministry official said Monday.
The official, asking not to be named, told the press the ministry was about
to purchase more bomb-detection bombs to eliminate suicide attacks against
Canadian forces by the Taliban militants in Afghanistan.
Up to 83 Canadian forces were killed by attacks launched by the Taliban.
The official said the Canadian government was expected to purchase around
30 armored vehicles with 60 million dollars. (end)
