Iranian leaders affirm support for Iraqi government clampdown on insurgents

(with photos) BAGHDAD, May 4 (KUNA) -- Iranian officials assured an Iraqi delegation that visited Iran recently that Tehran backed the Iraqi government efforts in clamping down on anti-state insurgents.
Ali Al-Adeeb, a member of a delegation of the Iraqi Coalition, that has recently visited the Iranian capital, told KUNA on Sunday that the Iranian officials assured the delegation about their keenness on "taking positive steps for maintaining stability in Iraq and backing the state sovereignty and combating the outlaws." Al-Adeeb was speaking to KUNA after a meeting that included Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki and the coalition's chief, Abdel Aziz Al-Hakim, at the latter's office, late on Saturday. The delegation briefed the prime minister and Al-Hakim about outcome of the talks held in Tehran.
The politician described as constructive the talks that were held between the delegation and the leaders in the Iranian capital.
