KUWAIT, April 20 (KUNA) -- Kuwait and Algeria signed on Sunday accords for
cooperation in media, economic, taxation and vocational fields.
The signing ceremony, held at Bayan Palace, was attended by His Highness
the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, HH the Crown Prince Sheikh
Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the visiting Algerian President Abdulaziz
Bouteflika.
The Kuwaiti and Algerian sides signed a memorandum of understanding for
setting up a mechanism for consultations between the Kuwaiti and Algerian
foreign ministries. On the Kuwaiti side, it was signed by Deputy Prime
Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, and
on the Algerian side by Minister of Foreign Affairs Murad Madalsi.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Sabah
Al-Salem Al-Sabah and Madalsi signed a memo of understanding in the sector of
education and vocational training. The two ministers also signed an executive
program for cultural cooperation for 2008-2010.
Minister of Information Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and
Madalsi signed a cooperation accord.
An accord for economic and technical cooperation was signed by Minister of
Finance Mustafa Al-Shimali and his Algerian counterpart, Karim Joudi. Both
also signed an agreement for averting double taxation and fees' evasion.
The ceremony was also attended by Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh
Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, senior officials and ranking Algerian
counterparts. (end)
