Kuwait gears up to host World Islamic Economic Forum

KUWAIT, April 20 (KUNA) -- Kuwait will soon be hosting the 4th World Islamic Economic Forum (WIFE), April 29-May 1 under the patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
The forum, entitled "Islamic Countries: Partners in the Global Development", is also sponsored by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah.
The opening ceremony will be held in Bayan Palace with the participation of leaders and senior officials of Islamic countries.
The event will include several seminars on youth leadership in Islamic countries and their role in determining the economic future of their nations, issues concerning businesswomen, and the role of Islamic and Kuwaiti finance corporations in funding economic projects.
Heads of the chambers of commerce and industry in the Islamic countries will also meet in a session that will take place in the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI).
In addition, an exhibition will be held on the sidelines of the forum with the participation of 50 Islamic companies. It will be inaugurated by His Highness the Prime Minister.
The three-day forum will also discuss small and medium projects, the development of infrastructure, real estate development, the future of markets in the Islamic world, the future of energy, the role of investment in combating poverty, and education.
The forum, which will be the biggest event to be hosted by Kuwait in 2008, is organized by the World Islamic Economic Forum Foundation which was established in 2006.
The foundation is an independent non-profit organization that seeks to promote business partnerships and economic cooperation among Muslim entrepreneurs and companies in the Organization of Islamic Conference (CIO) countries and to promote understanding and dialogue between the Muslim and non-Muslim world.(end) amf.aa.ris KUNA 201126 Apr 08NNNN
