NEW DELHI, April 16 (KUNA) -- At least 13 rebels of the Liberation Tigers
of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and four government soldiers have been killed in fresh
clashes in Northern Sri Lanka.
In a clash with security forces at Muhamalai in Jaffna yesterday two LTTE
cadres were killed, Sri Lankan Defence Ministry said in a statement Wednesday.
At least three LTTE rebels were killed in clashes in Navatkulam Narikkulam
and East of Madhu in Vavuniya yesterday, the Ministry said.
One rebel was killed in Sulainamaruthamadhu area in Vavuniya yesterday, the
Ministry added.
In a clash in the Vavuniya front yesterday, two government soldiers were
killed in a mine blast, the Ministry added.
One LTTE rebel was killed in Kiribbanwewa and Janakapura in North-east
Welioya region.
Two more government soldiers were killed in the Welioya region yesterday.
On the Mannar front, six LTTE rebels were killed in fresh clashes yesterday,
the Defence Ministry said. (end)
