ISLAMABAD, March 23 (KUNA) -- Police here launched an operation and
arrested over 75 suspects after intelligence reports that possible suicide
bombers have entered in the heavily-guarded capital.
Syed Kalim Imam, Senior Superintendent Police (SSP), while talking to media
said that security has been given a red alert and an operation has been
launched to arrest eight teenaged suicide bombers.
He added that so far more than 75 suspects have been arrested and that the
operation was still underway.
The reports came as the nation celebrated Pakistan's 68th National Day on
Sunday.
Pakistan has been recently hit by a series of suicide attacks. Four suicide
explosions in eastern Lahore city last month killed over three dozen persons
and wounded more than a hundred others.
All suicide attacks were aimed at security forces installations, one
targeting a Naval War college and another targeted a building of Federal
Investigation Agency (FIA).
Also, a bomb blast last week in an Italian restaurant in Islamabad killed a
Turkish woman and wounded over 10 others, including a British diplomat and
five US citizens. (end)
