Police in Islamabad arrests over 75 suspects after reports of suicide

bombers ISLAMABAD, March 23 (KUNA) -- Police here launched an operation and arrested over 75 suspects after intelligence reports that possible suicide bombers have entered in the heavily-guarded capital.
Syed Kalim Imam, Senior Superintendent Police (SSP), while talking to media said that security has been given a red alert and an operation has been launched to arrest eight teenaged suicide bombers.
He added that so far more than 75 suspects have been arrested and that the operation was still underway.
The reports came as the nation celebrated Pakistan's 68th National Day on Sunday.
Pakistan has been recently hit by a series of suicide attacks. Four suicide explosions in eastern Lahore city last month killed over three dozen persons and wounded more than a hundred others.
All suicide attacks were aimed at security forces installations, one targeting a Naval War college and another targeted a building of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
Also, a bomb blast last week in an Italian restaurant in Islamabad killed a Turkish woman and wounded over 10 others, including a British diplomat and five US citizens. (end) amn.hb KUNA 231756 Mar 08NNNN
