BRUSSELS, March 3 (KUNA) -- EU's foreign policy chief Javier Solana Monday
congratulated Russian President-elect Dmitri Medvedev for winning the
presidential elections.
The EU council said in a statement that Solana expressed in a message to
Medvedev in which he believed the new Russian President would further cement
the strategic partnership with the European Union (EU).
European Commission (EC) president Jose Manuel Barros congratulated
Medvedev and said he was looking forward to working with him.
The central election commission in Russia announced Medvedev's victory by
garnering 70.2 percent of votes. (end)
