BRUSSELS, March 1 (KUNA) -- EU Commissionner for External Relations, Benita
Ferrero-Waldner, will embark on a 2-day visit to Algeria on Monday for talks
with Algerian President, Abdelaziz Bouteflika and other government officials
to discuss EU-Algerian ties.
Algeria is confronted with important challenges and the EU is ready to help
the country and make its reforms viable as part of our Association Agreement,
said the Commissioner in a press statement.
EU-Algerian relations are governed by the Association Agreement signed in
April 2002 and which entered into force in September 2005.
As regards EU financial assistance to Algeria, the main axis of
collaboration from 2007 till 2010 are economic and justice reforms and
strengthening of basic utilities with an allocation of 220 million euro. (end)
