European Parliament calls on US to renounce military threats against Iran

BRUSSELS, Jan 31 (KUNA) -- The European Parliament (EP) adopted a resolution Thursday expressing regret that Iran "has still not complied with its international obligations to suspend all enrichment-related and reprocessing activities." The EP welcome the agreement reached in Berlin last week on a new UNSC draft resolution on Iran, which foresees further measures.
The Euro deputies called on the US Administration and all other represantatives involved "to renounce all rhetoric on military options and regime change policies against Iran," and called on the US to "participate directly in negotiations with Iran along with the EU." The EP also expressed "deep concern over the deterioration of the human rights situation in Iran." Todays resolution follows a debate on Iran in the full EP session yesterday, Wednesday.
