Six million barrels of Iraqi crude oil up for grabs
Power & Materials    12/25/2007 5:38:00 PM

BAGHDAD, Dec 25 (KUNA) -- Iraq has set up for auction six million barrels of crude oil from the city of Kirkuk up for grabs on January 15.
The bidding deadline is December 31, A spokesman for the Iraqi oil ministry, Assem Jihad, told KUN on Tuesday.
Jehad did not reveal if Iraq had steeled the bids for a previous auction for selling other six million barrels that were slated for December 31.
He noted such measure adopted by the ministry has been beneficial from time to time, particularly when the ministry attempts to collect five to six million barrels and set them up for auction.
In recent months, the regular selling of Iraqi crude oil through pipelines stretching from northern Iraq to Turkey's Jihan port have contributed to the increase of Iraqi oil production, Jehad added. (end) mhg.mb KUNA 251738 Dec 07NNNN
