Swiss police identify attacker on Islamic center

GENEVA, Nov 14 (KUNA) -- A man who attacked an Islamic center with an automatic rifle has been identified as a naturalized Swiss national.
Spokesperson for the Cantonal police Jean-Christophe Sauterel told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Wednesday that the person who fired 12 shots at the Islamic Center in Crissier near Lausanne "is considered by the Swiss authorities as a Swiss and is of Kosovar origin." Sauterel added that the motives of the shooting that took place late on Monday are still unknown and that the investigation continues.
He said that though 12 shots were fired, only one man was injured and is currently out of danger.
The attacker is a naturalized Swiss who has completed his military service in Switzerland, he added.
The lone gunman reportedly used an assault rifle in the attack that targeted worshippers at the Islamic centre. He was overcame by people at the center. (end) hn.rk KUNA 141318 Nov 07NNNN
