AMMAN, Oct 18 (KUNA) -- Jordanian Minister of Interior Eid Al Fayez said on
Thursday that Iraqis in Jordan are "guests and they are treated with respect
until their crisis ends and peace and security are restored to their country."
During a meeting with a delegation from Christian American Solidarity
Institution here today, Al Fayez added that the Jordanian government, upon
directives of King Abdullah II of Jordan, presents all facilities to make it
easier for Iraqis residing in Jordan. Unofficial figures indicate that 750,000
Iraqis are residing in Jordan to escapte the harsh living conditions in their
country.
He also noted to the financial burdens Jordan was shouldering because of
hosting large number of Iraqis despite its rare resources and limited
potentials, pointing to the government's recent decision to allow Iraqi
students to study at public schools, according to the Jordanian news agency
(Petra).
For their part, members of the delegation hailed the efforts of King
Abdullah II to restore peace and security to the region, pointing to the great
example of co-existence between Muslims and Christians in Jordan. (end)
