BAGHDAD, Oct 9 (KUNA) -- Unknown gunmen have assassinated the head of the
Shiite Waqf authority in the Baghdad area of Al-Rasafah, police said on
Tuesday.
A police source, who asked to withhold his name, told Kuwait News Agency
(KUNA) that Sheikh Ibrahim Abdel Karim was targetted with a hail of gunfire
while riding in his car in Baghdad Al-Jedidah district. He died instantly.
Elsewhere, police reported that one civilian lost his life and 11 others
suffered injuries in two bomb blast, early today, in Diyala south of Baghdad.
