| Iraqi Accord Front threatens to quit presidency, parliament |

BAGHDAD, Sept 21 (KUNA) -- Iraqi Vice-President Tareq Al-Hashemi Friday
threatend to withdraw the Accord Front from the Presidency and parliament if
the government continued defying demands of the Front.
Hashemi told a news conference, held in Al-Amiriya neighborhood, the Accord
Front "will not return to the government" unless its demands were met. He
assured that the government of Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki has not
responded to its demands.
"We will not keep our participation in the government as it was before. We
will not allow to be marginalized once more and will not accept the ministries
that were given to us before," said Hashemi.
Hashemi, the secretary general of the Iraqi Islamic Party, warned against
withdrawal from the entire political process if the negotiations with the
government failed.
"Now we have withdrawn from the Iraqi government, but we will quit the
presidency and the parliament in case our talks with the government reached a
dead end," added the Vice President, who accused the government of illegal
practices.
The Accord Front has 44 seats in the parliament. Five of its ministers had
resigned. (end)
