BASRA, Sept 16 (KUNA) -- Armed insurgents have attacked two British
military patrols in the southern region of Basra, a spokesman of the British
force said on Sunday.
The spokesman said a military patrol was attacked, on Saturday, with mortar
shells near Al-Zubair causeway in the south of Basra city. Another patrol was
targetted with a bomb blast, late on Saturday, followed with volleys of
machine-gun fire in the same region.
No losses were mentioned in the statement.
The twin attack followed recent withdrawal of the British forces from the
southern city. (end)
