GAZA, Sept 15 (KUNA) -- Fatah said Saturday that Hamas had to back out of
its "coup" in Gaza and acknowledge the legitimacy of Mahmoud Abbas as
president if any negotiations were to take place.
Fatah spokesman Ahmad Abdulrahman told local radio that Hamas had to back
down, reinstate legitimate government institutions, and abide by the "national
plan" before negotiations could begin for holding new elections.
There is no contact with Hamas, neither directly nor through mediators, he
said, and any reports of this are baseless. (end)
