ALGIERS, Sept 15 (KUNA) -- Five people, allegedly implicated with terrorist
groups, were arrested Saturday by authorities in Bumirdas Province, 54 km east
of the capital, Algiers.
Local radio quoted a security source as saying the five detainees were
awaiting interrogation, adding that the arrest was made following an attack on
a military barracks in the same province.
Security was beefed up in the area and provinces surrounding it following
the attack, and wide-scale search operations are ongoing there.
The source also said that soldiers were deployed to the province's eastern
and southeastern areas. (end)
