KUWAIT, Sept 10 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Petroleum Corporation CEO Saad Al-Shuaib
said here Monday that Kuwaiti oil facilities were secure and safe.
The remarks were made following recent reports that Kuwaiti oil
installations could come under potential attacks.
He pointed to a security plan in place for a couple of years to tighten
security at Kuwaiti oil facilities.
Two years ago, specialized cabinet panels worked out studies aiming to
ensure security and safety at Al-Shuaiba Area which houses three oil
refineries and other oil plants, the Kuwaiti oil official noted.
The Kuwait Oil Corporation and security apparatuses are seeking to tighten
security at Kuwaiti oil installations, Al-Shuabi added.
On coordination with the US side in this respect, he said the US side was
really working with several Kuwaiti agencies concerned over tightened security
at Kuwaiti oil installations.
But, he said he was not aware of an exact date for a visit by a US
delegation to Kuwait on the guarding of oil facilities. (end)
