BAGHDAD, Aug 29 (KUNA) -- An improvised car bomb exploded this afternoon
near Karkh court amid tight security confronting attacks targeting Islamic
Higher Council offices by unknown armed men, Iraqi police said on Wednesday.
The improvised car bomb was parked behind the Karkh court lot in Al-Mansour
area in Baghdad, said police, noting that first estimates indicate the death
of a civilian and injury of three others.
Meanwhile, armed men attacked an office of the Higher Islamic Council which
belongs to Abdul-Aziz Al-Hakim in Al-Nu'airya area south east of Baghdad.
The armed men raided the office and set the site ablaze.
Earlier, two similar attacks on offices of the Higher Islamic Council were
targeted in Al-Sadr city forcing Iraqi security authority to shutdown several
bridges connecting Al-Sadr city to midtown Baghdad.(end)
