ISTANBUL, Aug 15 (KUNA) -- A member of the banned Kurdistan Workers' Party
(PKK) was arrested by Turkish authorities just before staging a terrorist
attack on the commercial Turkish city of Istanbul, police sources said on
Wednesday.
Turkish law enforcements raided PKK compounds over the past 24 hours,
resulting in the arrest, the sources said, adding that 1.4 kilograms of the
A-4 explosives were found in the possession of the suspected terrorist.
PKK had launched an armed campaign against the Turkish government since
1978 in pursuit of independence in southeast Turkey. The conflict left more
than 37,000 people killed. (end)
