GAZA, Aug 6 (KUNA) -- A Palestinian missile was launched on Monday from
northern Gaza targeting Sderot settlement, south Israel, said an Israeli
official source.
Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement,
issued a statement claiming responsibility for the attack.
The statement said the attack came in response to Israel's continuous
aggression against Palestinians, including assassinations.
In a separate statement the Brigades also claimed responsibility for
earlier missile attacks including mortar shelling attacks on several Israeli
positions.
"In two separate military operations in the early hours this morning one of
two groups were able to launch three missiles of the type Quds-3 against
Sderot," the statement said.
"The other group was able to launch three 100 millimeter-caliber mortar
shells on Israeli post of Nahel Ouz, east of Gaza," the statement added.
On another front, Palestinian resistance group Hamas and Islamic Jihad
issued a joint statement on an accord to iron out past differences and
tensions between them, including the Gaza latest confrontation among their
members last Thursday.
The statement said the agreement came after an overnight meeting between
the two groups' leaders intended to follow-up the efforts to contain the
deadly confrontations which resulted in killing three activists and injuring
seven others.
Last night meeting by leaders of the two groups in Gaza was positive to
particularly to contain confrontation's incidents in Al-Shajaeyah and
Al-Zaiyton areas by members of the two groups, the statement added.
The two sides agreed to continue contacts and cooperation in order to serve
the interests of the Palestinian cause and people, according to the statement.
