Four guerrillas killed while foiling an infiltration attempt in Kashmir -- Army

 NEW DELHI, July 31 (KUNA) -- An Indian Army officer, one trooper and four guerrillas were killed along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir Tuesday during an infiltraton attempt from across the border.
The infiltration attempt by the Pakistan-based guerrilla group was today foiled by the Indian Army near the border town of Uri along LoC. One Indian Army Colonel Vasanth V, one soldier and four guerrillas were killed in the encounter, news agency Indo Asian News Service reported.
Infiltration from across the LoC into Indian-administered Kashmir has recorded an increase this year.
Indian Defence Minister A K Antony had said last week that despite an improvement in the overall security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, infiltration from across the border was increasing. (end) dr.tg KUNA 312157 Jul 07NNNN
