BAGHDAD, July 25 (KUNA) -- Six Iranian passengers were injured when
anonymous gunmen attacked on Wednesday a bus in Al-Mahdia city, southern
Baghdad, police sources said.
Sources told KUNA the gunmen used light weapons in the attack on the bus
carrying Iranians from Karbala to Baghdad.
The attackers had posted a mock check point in Al-Doura area in Baghdad and
opened fire on the bus that did not stop, and six of the passengers were
injured.
The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
This comes after US and Iranian officials exchanged accusations and heated
criticism over security breaches in Iraq during a meeting held yesterday. The
officials had finally decided to set up a tripartite security committee to
resolve their differences.
This Committee will focus on cooperation to prosecute terrorist groups and
insurgents to the full extent of law in Iraq to support the government's
efforts to restore security and stability.
The committee will also exert effort to monitor the Iraq-Iran borders and
boost cooperation to curb infiltration of the borders by hostile elements and
insurgents.(end)
