Coalition soldier dies in western Afghanistan

KABUL, July 10 (KUNA) -- An American soldier was among fatalities of shooting at an Afghan military base in the country's western Herat province, the provincial government told reporters Tuesday.
Four Afghan soldiers were killed and seven more wounded when one of their colleagues sprayed bullets at them on Monday.
Although the provincial government did not disclose the number of injuries of American soldiers, a source said that two foreign troopers had also been injured. A statement released from the US main Bagram base, located north of Kabul, said Tuesday a service member of the Coalition troops, led by the US, died of injuries in the Herat province.
"An investigation into the events surrounding the service member's death is being conducted," said the statement, which did not mention name and nationality of the fallen soldier. Earlier, the provincial government had said the soldier, who allegedly opened fire at his colleagues, had been arrested and probed for his links to the Taliban militants or any other anti-government group.
