BAGHDAD, July 1 (KUNA) -- Two Iraqi policemen were killed on Sunday and
five others were injured, including four high-ranking officers, in a suicide
bomb attack that targeted a security check point in Fallujah, 50 kilometers
western Baghdad, police sources said.
The suicide bomber was driving a booby-trapped vehicle at high speed,
heading all the way towards the check point, an Iraqi police source told KUNA.
Earlier today, five policemen were killed and another 15 people were
wounded when a suicide bomber rammed a booby-trapped car into an Iraqi police
station in the city of Ramadi, 110 km west of Baghdad. The wounded included 12
civilians and three policemen.
Meanwhile, the Multi-National Force in Iraq said in a statement today that
it detained 14 suspected terrorists during storming operations in Ninevah and
Al-Anbar provinces.
Among the detainees was a major Al-Qaeda leader in Mosul, in addition to
three of his aides, the statement added. (end)
