Unknown gunmen blow up oil pipeline in Iraq
Military and Security    6/29/2007 7:27:00 PM

BAGHDAD, June 29 (KUNA) -- A crude oil pipeline taking fuel from Alexandria and Mueilha (60 kilometers north of Hella) was blown up by unknown gunmen Friday, police captain Abul Hareth Al-Maamouri said.
Speaking on behalf of the police department, he told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the pipeline was blown up by "two explosive charges placed under the pipeline." "The fire brigade, who came to the scene of the explosion shortly after the incident, were able to overcome the flames," he added.
The targeted pipeline takes crude oil from oil fields in the south to a power generation station in Massib and to another power station south of Baghdad, he said. (end) mag.eh KUNA 291927 Jun 07NNNN
