GAZA, June 8 (KUNA) -- Israel confirmed on Friday that two missiles were
fired late last night at Sderot, southern Israel, from northern Gaza.
An Israeli army spokesperson told Radio Israel this morning that two
rockets were fired at uninhabited areas near Sderot. The attack left no
casualties or damage, the spokesperson said.
He accused the Islamic Jihad Movement of launching several attacks towards
Israel over the past few days and claimed that Hamas had reduced the number of
attacks during the same period.
Hamas' fighters, the Ezzidine Al-Qassam Brigades, claimed today
responsibility for firing five mortar shells at Erez Crossing between Israel
and Gaza.
In a statement, the brigades said its fighters attacked Israeli troops
around Beit Hanoun, northern Gaza, with Yaseen mortars and RPGs.
The seven mortar shells that were fired left several Israeli troops
injured, the statement said.
The statement also claimed they attacked the Kissufim crossing with seven
mortar shells.(end)
