BEIRUT, June 6 (KUNA) -- Lebanese security forces diffused on Wednesday a
bomb in the southern town of Tyre, discovered a cache containing 200 kilograms
of explosives in northern Lebanon, and confiscated a truck carrying weapons
near Baalbak.
Informed sources said the Lebanese army was able to diffuse a bomb placed
in an infant's milk container. The bomb was 200 grams of highly explosive
material and was placed at the entrance of the Tyre shoreline, the sources
added.
They noted that the bomb was timed to go off at 11:15 am today.
Meanwhile, An-Nahar newspaper said "interior security forces and army
troops were able to confiscate a cache containing bombs and explosive material
in a house located in Akar, north of Lebanon. The house belongs to an arrested
suspect believed to be member of the Fateh Al-Islam movement.
A Lebanese Army checkpoint near Baalbak was also able to stop a truck
carrying a large amount of weapons from Syria, the newspaper added.
It noted that the weapons were sent to pro-Syrian groups in Lebanon.(end)
