Saudi Arabia, UK seek closer military ties

RIYADH, June 4 (KUNA) -- Saudi Vice-Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Sultan bin Abdulaziz met here Monday evening with visiting British Defense Secretary Desmond Browne on bilateral military ties.
During the meeting, the Saudi official said Saudi-British cooperation was progressing, whether in view of armament or economic balance, hoping that talks would lead to more constructive cooperation in the interest of both nations' friendly peoples.
Both sides also mulled over the latest regional and international developments, chiefly Palestine, Iraq and ways and means of bolstering bilateral relations, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
The meeting was also attended by several Saudi and British officials.
The British secretary of defense arrived here on Monday on an official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Upon arrival, he was welcomed at Riyadh air base by Prince Khalid bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, assistant minister of defense and aviation for military affairs, and a number of senior officials. (pickup previous) od.mt KUNA 050043 Jun 07NNNN
