Two firing incidents in northern Pakistan kill five people

ISLAMABAD, May 28 (KUNA) -- At least five persons including a senior security official were killed and four others were wounded in separate firing incidents in two tribal towns of North-West Frontier Province (NWFP), security officials said on Monday.
Suspected local militants opened indiscriminate fire at the vehicle of Frontier Core (FC) near a security checkpost in Tank town, the officials told KUNA.
The attack killed FC Assistant District Director (ADD), Mir Wali Khan, and critically wounded his driver, they said, adding that there was retaliatory fire but the militants escaped.
In another incident in Bannu town, 55 miles north of Tank, acting on a tip-of, police conducted a raid in cantonment area.
There was an exchange of fire between policemen and miscreants who had arrived in the town from Afghanistan for terrorist activities, said police sources.
They said four armed miscreants were killed, a passer-by and two policemen were wounded. (end) amn.rk KUNA 281255 May 07NNNN
