BAGHDAD, May 18 (KUNA) -- A car bomb blew up Friday morning in Al-Mesib
town, south of Baghdad, killing three Iraqis and injuring another four, Iraqi
Police said.
A security source said the car was driven by a suicide bomber close to an
Iraqi police checkpoint in Mesib town in Babel district where the explosives
were set off. The explosion killed three and injured four others, including
policemen who were stationed at the checkpoint.
Police cordoned the area and the victims were taken to hospital in Hilla.
This is the first blast in the area since formation of a council of the
tribes of Babel. The tribal bloc aims to chase out militants, and the document
signed by the tribal elders incriminates killing of Iraqis and engaging in
sectarian confrontations. It also stresses handing over militants to the
authorities and countering terrorists' operations in the north Hilla towns.
