Syrian-Russian cmte concludes three cooperation deals
DAMASCUS, April 26 (KUNA) -- The fifth Syrian-Russian Joint Higher
Committee concluded meetings Thursday with the signing of three agreements
regarding cooperation in natural gas, transport and business Consultation.
The Syrian Minister of Economy and Trade Hosni Lutfi said the agreements
saw the light and opened new horizon for cooperation.
According to Syrian News Agency (SANA) quoted the Syrian Minister as
saying, "Ideas were discussed by the committee have opened new prospects for
cooperation between the two friendly countries, particularly in field of
holding cooperation agreements between the Syrian and Russian cities."
He underscored significance of opening a bureau for Russian businessmen in
Syria and vise versa to increase volume of commercial exchange and establish
joint investment projects.
Meanwhile, Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources Sufianj Al-Alaw noted to
significance of the EURO 160 million contract was signed between Syria Gas
Company and Russian Stroytransgaz Company aiming at investing the free gas
geological reserves discovered in fields Northern city of Homs.
For his part, Russian Minister of Regional Development Vladimir Yakovlev
said that outcomes of meetings of the Syrian-Russian Committee 5th session
were "positive, fruitful and constructive."
He hoped that these agreements would contribute to reviving and increasing
volume of commercial exchange and joint cooperation in economy and investment
