Turkish security forces kill 18 Kurds in southeast Turkey ISTANBUL, April 21 (KUNA) -- At least 18 Kurdish rebels were killed in last week's clashes between Turkish security forces and members of the Kurdistan Labor Party (PKK) in Kurdish-dominated areas of southeast Turkey, security forces announced here on Saturday.
An official source said six rebels were also arrested and eight others surrendered to security forces.
The source added that the forces engaged in the ongoing clashes with the PKK elements had helicopter support.
Since the 1980's, PKK-Turkish government clashes killed up to 37,000 people, most of them Kurds aspiring to establish their own independent state.
