US incorrect on more terrorist explosions after April 11 - Algerian PM

US incorrect on more terrorist explosions after April 11 - Algerian PM ALGIERS, April 20 (KUNA) -- US was incorrect when it said there might occur more terrorist explosions in Algeria after those of April 11 which killed 33 people and injured 222, said prime minister Abdulaziz Belkhadem in a press statement on Friday.
He said that embassies (in reference to the US embassy here) should not be in the business of interferring in Algeia's internal affairs by posting cautions to their citizens. The US embassy here had warned its citizens in Algeria that there might be armed attacks against the central post office in downtown Algiers and the state television station there. The citizens were asked to stay away of these locations for their safety.
The US embassy here, in answer to Belkhadem's protest, issued a statement saying that "it is the obligation of the United States embassy in Algeria and in accordance with US laws and State Department policies to provide US citizens in Algeria with information it deems substantiated regarding any danger that might pose a threat to their lives and properties." "This is the same policy which Washington goes by in any country in the world," underlined the statement.
In a related matter, Belkhadem indicated that Algerian security authorities had been able to identify the perpetrators of the April 11 suicide bombers but that further investigations in the case were still ongoing.
Interior minister Nuriddin Zarhouni had revealed two days ago that the perpetrators were all Algerian citizens. (end) ft.ajs KUNA 202301 Apr 07NNNN
