Saudi Arabia calls for blocking sources of terrorism funding

Saudi Arabia calls for blocking sources of terrorism funding RIYADH, April 7 (KUNA) -- Saudi Interior Minister Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz called Saturday for global action to block sources of funding for terrorist groups, saying that terrorism had become a phenomena that threatened the international community as a whole.
In a statement to Al-Riyadh daily, he said terrorist groups were still receiving internal and external financial support and there were those who continued to promote destructive ideologies.
The minister called on all government bodies and citizens to seriously cooperate in countering terrorism and arresting those who were targeting the country's security and stability.
Moreover, Prince Nayef said yesterday's killing of one of the wanted individuals implicated in the attack on French nationals in Medina was yet another success that would be noted for Saudi security authorities.
He strongly condemned the attack on the French nationals and described it as "a heinous crime" that desecrated holy locations and the religion of Islam as a whole.
There are wanted Saudis in Iran, he also affirmed, and called on Iranian authorities to hand these suspects over within the existing framework of security cooperation between the two countries.
The Interior Ministry had announced yesterday the killing of one of the individuals wanted for the attack on a number of French residents, of which four were killed in February 26 of this year.(end) ay.ema KUNA 071126 Apr 07NNNN
