Unknown gunmen in a car shot dead Ghazi al-Hanash Hamoud, chief of Taai Tribe, while he was leaving Abdul-Razek Mosque in Wehda district, southeast Mosul, following the weekly routine Friday prayers, the Iraqi police source told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).
Meanwhile, some 179 insurgents were arrested and eight others were killed in a security operation that has begun in Mosul this week in order to impose law and order in the country, Multi-National Forces in south Iraq said.
