Career history of new Kuwaiti Premier, Cabinet

By Eman Al-Huti KUWAIT, May 8 (KUNA) -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah issued Sunday a decree on the formation of the 28th Cabinet since the independence of Kuwait that will be chaired over by His Highness Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
Here is a report on the political career history of H.H. the Prime Minister, and members of the new Cabinet: H.H. the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah was born in 1940, then he received his primary education in Kuwait, and his secondary education in UK, and got a diploma in French language studies, and a post-graduate degree in political sciences from the Swiss university of Geneva, while having a good command of Arabic, French and English languages, and a knowledge of Persian.
In 1964, H.H. Sheikh Nasser started his political career by joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then he was transferred at the same year to work at Kuwait's permanent delegation to UN.
In 1965, he served as Kuwait's permanent representative to UN European headquarters in Geneva.
In 1967, he served as Kuwait's Consul General in Switzerland.
In 1968, he was appointed as Kuwait's ambassador in Iran, and he remained in this post till 1979.
In 1979, he was appointed as Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information, and in 1985, he became the Minister of Information.
In 1988, he was appointed as the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor.
In 1990, he was appointed as the State Minister for Foreign Affairs.
In 1998, he was appointed as the Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs.
On February 7, 2006, H.H. Sheikh Nasser was assigned the task of forming the new cabinet, then he had the same assignment in July 2006, March 2007, May 2008, January 2009, and May 2009.
As for First Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defense Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad, was born in 1942, and was promoted till he held several posts within the Amiri Diwan including Assistant Undersecretary of the Amiri Diwan for Administrative and Financial Affairs.
Then, Sheikh Jaber was appointed as the Governor of Hawally, then as the Governor of Al-Ahmadi, then the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, then the Minister of Information, then a Counsellor at the bureau of H.H. the Late Amir.
In February, 2001, Sheikh Jaber was appointed as First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, and he held the same post in every new cabinet line-up till May 2009.
Regarding Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Humoud Al-Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, was born in Kuwait in 1950, then he got his General Secondary Certificate from the British Military Academy in 1967, and diploma of a specialized marine officer at the rank of first Lieutenant from the same academy, then he got a training course at Kuwait's Police Academy.
Then, Sheikh Ahmad was promoted till he became the Governor of Al-Farwaniya in 1988, the Minister of Interior in 1991 to 1992, then the Minister of Defense from 1994 to 1996.
Then, Sheikh Ahmad took over the chairmanship of Kuwait Football Association, and at the turn of 2011, he was appointed as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior instead of Sheikh Jaber Al-Khaled.
Concerning Deputy Prime Minister, and Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, he was born in 1955, and got the Bachelor of Science degree in economics from the Claremont College, California, and a PhD in economics from Harvard university.
Sheikh Dr. Mohammad held a lot of academic posts including a demonstrator at the department of economics of the college of Commerce, Economics and Political Science at Kuwait University between 1979 and 1985, then he served as a professor at the same department.
Then, Sheikh Dr. Mohammad was seconded to work in Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) from 1987 to 1988.
Then, he was appointed as Kuwait's ambassador in U.S. in 1993, and served in this post till he was appointed as State Minister for Foreign Affairs on February 14, 2001, then he was appointed as Minister of Foreign Affairs, and acting Minister of Social Affairs and Labor on July 14, 2003.
In February 2006, he was appointed Deputy Prime Minister, and Foreign Minister, and held the same post in July 2006, March 2007 as well as in the Cabinet reshuffles of October 2007, May 2008, January 2009 as both Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and acting Oil Minister.
Sheikh Dr. Mohammad was appointed on May 29, 2009 as Deputy Prime Minister, and Foreign Minister.
As for Deputy Prime Minister, State Minister for Housing Affairs, and State Minister for Development Affairs Sheikh Ahmad Fahad Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, he was in 1963, and holds the Bachelor of Science in Economics and Political Science.
He held several posts including President of Kuwait Football Association, and member of the International Olympic Committee, President of the Olympic Council of Asia, Vice-President of the Association of National Olympic Committees, Vice President of the National Olympic Committee for the coordination of Afro-Asian Games, President of the Kuwaiti Olympic Committee, President of Asian Handball Federation, Vice President of the International Handball Federation.
On February 14, 2011 Sheikh Ahmad was appointed as Minister of Information, and he served as acting Minister of Oil on February 10, 2003.
On July 14, 2003, he was appointed as Minister of Energy, and September 15, 2004, the OPEC ministerial conference appointed him as the oil cartel president.
In April 2005, he was appointed as the Minister of Energy and acting Minister of Health, and he served in 2006 as head of the national security apparatus at the degree of a minister.
On May 29, 2009, Sheikh Ahmad Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, and State Minister for Development Affairs, and State Minister for Housing Affairs. (more) ah.na.aff KUNA 081921 May 11NNNN
