Kuwait wins two bronze medals in 4th Arab police karate championship

DAMASCUS, May 7 (KUNA) -- Kuwait won two additional bronze medals on Wednesday in kumite, part of the fourth Arab police karate championship here, raising their tally to three bronze and one gold.
Player Saad Al-Reshidi won the bronze in the 70 kilograms weight category, while Ahmad Al-Dousari won third place in the 80 kilograms weight category, Administrator of the technical committee at the Kuwaiti Police Sports Federation Imad Behbehani told KUNA.
Three more players had qualified to the final rounds earlier today, Behbehani said, the players are Youssif Al-Harbi and Mohammad Al-Nuwaiem in the 75 kilograms weight category of canta and Ahmad Muneer in the over 80 kilograms category.
Earlier today, the gold medal was won by player Abdullah Mukhllid Al-Otaibi, who achieved first place in the individual game in Karate under 65 kilograms, beating his Syrian contender Karim Othman, who came second place.
Also Karateka (Karate practitioner) Mohammad Qassem of Kuwait won the bronze medal in the under 55 kilograms kumite competition while his teammate Abdullah Al-Otaibi reached the final of the under 65 kilograms kumite.
Behbehani said that Syrian Interior Minister Major General Bassam Abdulmajid had praised, during his meeting with participating delegations, the level of Kuwaiti Lieutenant Abdullah Al-Otaibi, and the spirit of the Kuwaiti team.
Behbehani underlined the support shown by Kuwaiti Interior Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Khalid Al-Sabah and Undersecretary Lieutenant-General Ahmad Al-Rujaib for the players and the game. (pickup previous) tk.hb KUNA 071832 May 08NNNN
