KUWAIT, Oct 16 (KUNA) -- 1969 -- A higher committee responsible for the state's projects was established.
1976 -- His Highness the late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah issued Decree law 74/1976, approving an agreement on establishment of the Solidarity Fund for Economic and Social Development in non-aligned countries, which was signed in Kuwait on August 30, 1975.
1988 -- Amiri Decree 164/88 was issued on establishment of the Ministry of Higher Education to take charge of higher and applied education as well as scientific research.
1994 -- UN Security Council Resolution 949 was unanimously approved, condemning Iraq's mobilization of troops along the Kuwaiti border and calling for an immediate and complete withdrawal of the military units to their original positions.
1998 -- Kuwait Stock Exchange (KSE) joined the European-Asian Union of stock markets.
2005 -- Ghazi Al-Attar, a famous Kuwaiti singer since the 60s who significantly contributed to spread of Kuwaiti songs, died at the age of 64.
2007 -- Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) announced hiking price of Kuwaiti crude to USD 77.53 pb for the first time.
2010 -- Kuwait donated USD 30,000 to fund activities of Al-Muhammadiya charitable society in Singapore.
2010 -- Jordan Arab media festival honored Kuwaiti actor Abdulhussain Abdulredha and the renowned Kuwaiti businesswoman Nabila Al-Anjari.
2011 -- Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) signed KD 3.3 million loan agreement with Burkina Faso.
2012 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah opened First Asian Cooperation Dialogue Summit. (end) rk
