KUWAIT, Aug 31 (KUNA) -- 1961 -- The Amir, Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, issued a law regulating activities of insurance companies.
1964 -- Kazma Sports Club was founded.
1969 -- Jassem Mohammad Buresli was appointed as Kuwait's first ambassador to Yemen.
1973 -- Abdullatif Suleiman Al-Othman passed away at the age of 106. He was one of Kuwait's famous ship captains and sailed to India and Zinjibar, as well as the coasts of Africa.
1986 -- His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, issued a decree dissolving the Municipal Council to prevent overlapping of authorities amongst the council and other state bodies. The move followed a decree issued on July 12, 1986 forming a new cabinet which included the post of a State Minister for Municipal Affairs.
1990 -- The Arab League, during an extraordinary session in Cairo, called on Iraqi authorities to refrain from damaging Kuwait's demographic structure and the composition of its administration and called on all countries, as well as regional and international organizations, not to act in a way that could be seen as an approval of such Iraqi measures.
1997 -- The State of Kuwait and the Republic of Kazakhstan signed a protocol regulating relations between foreign ministries of the two sides in consolidation of bilateral relations.
2006 -- Kuwait's youth handball team was crowned champion of the 10th Asian Handball Tournament held in Hiroshima, Japan, after beating South Korea 34-28.
