KUWAIT, March 31 (KUNA) -- 1965 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah issued decree 17/1965, endorsing the international agreement on marine safety (1960).
1974 -- The Kuwaiti Society for the Protection of the Environment was established.
1982 -- A decree was issued on establishment of the Supreme Housing Council.
1985 -- Terrorists assassinated Iraqi diplomat, Hadi Saeed, and his son in Kuwait.
1986 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah laid cornerstone of Al-Qurain housing project.
1991 -- The Islamic Constitutional Movement was established as one of the political movements in Kuwait.
1995 -- The State of Kuwait and the Tajik Republic signed a protocol for establishment of diplomatic ties.
1997 -- Information Minister Sheikh Saud Nasser Al-Sabah inaugurated new headquarters of Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).
2003 -- The National Assembly approved, during a closed-door session, allotting KD 500 million to cover expenditures of emergency security situations.
2003 -- Kuwait officially launched a project for providing fresh water to the Iraqi port city of Umm Qaser. One million liters of water a day were being supplied to the city.
2004 -- Venezuela named a square in the state of Vargas after Kuwait in appreciation for donations presented by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah after floods that swept the country in 1999.
2009 -- Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) reported a 2.5-degree earthquake in Al-Abdali.
2011 -- His Highness Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the then Premier, tendered resignation to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber AL-Sabah. (end) rk
