KUWAIT, Oct 30 (KUNA) -- 1904 -- Kuwait's first clinic was opened at the beachfront Dixon House, offering medical treatment free of charge.
1919 -- Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, envoy of the Kuwaiti ruler Sheikh Salem Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, visited Britain to congratulate King George V after the Allies emerge victorious from the First World War.
1962 -- The Constituent Assembly held a session in which the articles of the Constitution are read out and the document is voted on. It is unanimously approved.
1976 -- The Amir, Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, issued decree by law 96/1976 approving the accord for immunities and prerogatives of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC), signed in Istanbul, Turkey, on May 15, 1976.
1989 -- The Amir, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, inaugurated the Championship of Peace and Friendship, held with participation of 44 Arab and Islamic states. The Kuwaiti team, during the two-week tournament, wins the games in volleyball, basketball and handball. It comes third in soccer and athletics.
1995 -- The first edition of the weekly economic newspaper "Al-Sabak" (the scoop) was published.
2002 -- Mabarrat Al-Khair, a Kuwaiti charity, was established with the aim of funding the construction of mosques, prayer corners, religious institutes and associations for aiding needy nations.
2007 -- The Kuwaiti Vocational Gathering was established.
2008 -- The Central Bank of Kuwait reduced the discount rate by 25 base points, bringing it from 4.5 to 4.25 percent.
2010 -- Rare tumor covering mouth of infant removed by medical expert Dr. Basel Al-Sabah.
2010 -- Kuwaiti driver Khaled Al-Mudaf came third in an international racing tournament held in the UAE. (end) gta
