1998 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah receives heads of Kuwaiti diplomatic missions abroad and stresses the state's keenness on promoting peace and co-existence among all peoples. He called for more effort to truly and rightly represent Kuwait's policies and humanitarian and peaceful stances at international conventions.
1998 -- The Ministry of Commerce and Industry signs a contract with the National Real Estate Company construct the Free Trade Zone at Shuwaikh Port.
1998 -- The National Assembly approves a draft law to prohibit candidates and voters contesting candidacy in their constituency on the basis of dispute over possible candidacy or voting in the wrong constituency.
