KUWAIT, May 29 (KUNA) -- 1940 -- His Highness the late Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah issues a law, regulating divers' profession and setting punitive measures against violators.
1997 -- Stock trading posts the second highest rise in the history of the Kuwaiti bourse in terms of both volume and value. As much as 419.7 million shares were traded for KD 118.29 million, leading to a 19.9-point hike in the KSE benchmark.
1997 -- Kuwait becomes the 91st country to sign the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC).
1999 -- A clinic for the elderly inaugurates in Al-Ruodha district.
2000 -- The International Organization for Epidemics elects the State of Kuwait as a permanent representative and chair-state of the Middle East Committee.
2000 -- Kuwait Municipality orders removal of the fishermen village in Al-Oshairej.
2003 -- The executive board of the World Health Organization choses Kuwait's Health Minister Dr. Mohammad Al-Jarallah as deputy board chairman.
