KUWAIT, Oct 28 (KUNA) -- 1969 -- The first ground station for satellite communication was inaugurated in the northeastern area of Umm Al-Aish.
1994 -- Kuwait established diplomatic relations with the Republic of Estonia.
1994 -- US President Bill Clinton paid a brief visit to Kuwait during which he held talks with the Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and inspected American troops stationed along the Kuwaiti-Iraqi border. The Amir bestowed the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Medal of honor upon the US president in appreciation of his country's stances in support of Kuwait's causes.
1996 -- Kuwait won the 13th Gulf Cup of Nations for the eighth time. The championship was held in Oman.
2000 -- Kuwait declared a donation of USD 150 million to Al-Aqsa Fund in line with the resolutions of the emergency Arab Summit in Cairo.
2003 -- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) launched its web service which aimed at providing advanced services in media.
2007 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah issued a decree dismissing Dr. Abdullah Al-Maatouq from his post as Minister of Justice and Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs.
2007 -- Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, set up a panel tasked with forming a body that provides care for the elderly.
2008 -- Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research's construction technology and energy department claimed the best energy project award in 2008.
2008 -- Renowned Kuwaiti actor Ali Al-Mufidi passed away aged 69 after a long career full of accomplishments in the field of theater, television, and radio.
2009 -- The Constitutional Court invalidated Badi Al-Dosari's election in the National Assembly's fifth constituency and announced Khaled Al-Adwa for the seat instead.
2010 -- Kuwait signed a contract to receive the crude oil tanker (Dar Salwa) of the South Korean (Daewoo) company for ship construction and heavy engineering - the first oil tanker received within the plan to update the Kuwait Oil Tanker Company fleet, which included the construction of four giant oil tankers which arrived at the port of Al-Ahmadi on November 28.
2010 -- Kuwait Youth Theatre won the grand prize for best theatrical performance in the Ninth Gulf Festival for Youth hosted by Qatar.
2011 -- Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education Ahmed Al-Mulaifi, visited Paris for the establishment of an office to serve distinguished students abroad during their academic years and after their graduation.
2011 -- Kuwait won a team gold in the 18th Arab Fencing Championship for Youth, which concluded in the United Arab Emirates.
2013 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah honored Qatar's Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani with a medal for his efforts to boost bilateral ties.
