KUWAIT, July 28 (KUNA) -- 1939 -- The Legislative Council called upon the Municipal Council to provide five boats to bring in fresh water from Shatt Al-Arab for the use of Kuwaitis.
1955 -- His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, issued an Amiri Decree that halts the purchase of lots outside the housing organization structure.
1968 -- Kuwait Federation for Tennis, Table Tennis and Squash was established.
1976 -- His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, issued law 58/1976 on regulating Kuwaiti Hajj missions.
2008 -- The areas of Mahboula, Abu Halifa and Jileeb Al-Shuyoukh witnessed protests and acts of vandalism, when thousands of Bengali workers protested against their employers, demanding a raise in salaries. The Ministry of Interior intervened, and the instigators were arrested and deported the next day.
2009 -- Kuwaiti team crowned champion of the 13th Gulf Judo competition held in Kuwait. (end) rk
