KUWAIT, June 28 (KUNA) -- 1948 -- The Amir Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah signed a 60-year concession agreement with an American petroleum company for exploration and production of natural gas and oil in the neutral zone between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
1964 -- Kuwait inaugurated its embassy in New Delhi and a consulate in Bombay.
1966 -- Amiri Decree 63/66 launched the South and Arabian Gulf Authority, based in Kuwait and affiliated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, aiming at contributing to development in the region.
1990 -- The Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah issued an Amiri order appointing members of the National Council, founded on April 22, 1990. The members were 25, including five ministers.
1997 -- Kuwait saw electricity and fresh water consumption hitting new record, with 5,360 megawatts and 229.4 million imperial gallons consumed.
1998 -- The Cabinet agreed to amend law 48/87 on combating narcotics to bring up punishment maximum to capital punishment.
2001 -- Kuwait and Morocco signed an agreement in Rabat launching a supreme commission tasked with developing bilateral cooperation in political, economic, commercial, cultural, and media affairs. The commission was co-chaired by the two countries' foreign ministers.
2004 -- Kuwait announced restoration of diplomatic relations with Iraq.
2006 -- Minister of State for Municipal Affairs Abdullah Al-Muhailbi issued a ministerial order stating that livestock must only be slaughtered in designated slaughter houses.
2010 -- Amiri Decree issued allowing Kuwait government to assist in the special funding of small and medium size enterprises throughout the Arab world. A sum of USD 500 million was allocated from the state's reserve to help in this regard.
2011 -- Athletes with special needs from Kuwait Sporting Club won seven medals at the international athletics tournament held in Tunisia.
2010 -- A Kuwaiti medical team at the Chest Hospital successfully performed a unique and critical TAVI, Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (also known as trans-catheter aortic valve replacement [TAVR]).
2010 -- The National Assembly endorsed amendments to the law for establishing the fund for tackling status of debt defaulting citizens, indebted to banks and investment companies.
2010 -- Kuwait donated 1.5 million sterling pounds to renovate the Tank Museum in Britain, which showcases a number of British tanks and armored vehicles that took part in the 1991 war of liberation of Kuwait.
2011 -- Players of the Kuwait Sports Disabled Club won seven medals, including two gold, in Tunisia's international paralympic championship.
2011 -- Kuwait Environment Protection Society signed with the European Argos organization, specialized in satellite systems, a treaty on observing biodiversity in Kuwait.
2012 -- The Ministry of Interior seized a boat with 242 kg of narcotics on board in the territorial waters. (end) gta
