KUWAIT, May 28 (KUNA) -- 1967 -- Late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah issues decree assigning Sheikh Saleh Mohammad Al-Sabah as Deputy Chief of Staff, Kuwait Army's Al-Yarmouk Brigade, as part of a collective Arab military effort to defend Arab lands.
1985 -- The Kuwaiti Squash-Tennis union was established.
1986 -- An Amiri decree was issued for the establishment of a Council for Nutrition Affairs, to be charged with mapping out the general nutrition policy in Kuwait and work out plans aimed at promoting healthy diets for citizens.
1996 -- The National Assembly approves a bill to ban co-education at Kuwait University, the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training and private schools, giving the government a five-year grace period for implementation.
1997 -- The International Epidemics Office elects Kuwait's representative Dr. Sultan Al-Khalaf as chairman of the regional committee of the bureau. Kuwait became the first Arab Gulf country to chair the commission.
2002 -- Qadsiya Sports Club wins His Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister's Ninth Championship after defeating Kuwait Sports Club on its own turf in Kaifan.
2008 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah issues Decree 133 forming Kuwait's 25th cabinet. It was headed by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and included 15 ministers, including two women.
2013 -- Kuwait and Iraq sign agreements for border maintenance during a visit by Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari. (end) gta
