KUWAIT, Sept 27 (KUNA) -- 1976 -- Kuwait was hit by an earthquake that measured 3.8 degrees on the Richter scale. The shocks were felt in particular in southeastern Ahmadi at 2:30 a.m. local-time.
1977 -- Deputy Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah issued decree-law 127 of 1977 on annexation of State of Kuwait to the agreement for forming the African Fund for Development.
1986 -- Kuwait Stock Exchange's dealing hall was inaugurated.
1990 -- The Amir, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, refuted allegations and fabrications spelled out by Iraq on the invasion of Kuwait. Speaking before the UN General Assembly's 45th session, he voiced full confidence that Kuwait will go back to what it was, an oasis of security and safety.
1990 -- During a regular session of the Arab League held in Tunis, a clash occurs between the Kuwaiti and the Iraqi delegations, when Iraq's delegate Hamed Alwan objects to the presence of the State of Kuwait's delegate at the session.
1997 -- The KSE signed a bilateral cooperation agreement with Bahrain Stock Exchange concerning the authentication and upgrading of joint cooperation in the fields of organizing and trading of securities in both markets.
1999 -- Board of Directors of North Africa and the Arab Nation Cooperative Alliance elected by majority of votes, Talaq Al-Haim, Board Chairman of the Kuwaiti Cooperative Societies Union, as vice chairman during its meeting in Cairo.
2000 -- The UN Security Council approved compensations for the State of Kuwait for damage inflicted by the Iraqi occupation forces to its oil installations.
2005 -- The Amir, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, issued decree 246 for 2005 allowing the Japanese Embassy to take ownership of blocs 11 and 12 of area A in the diplomatic area set up in West Mishref.
2010 -- Nasser Al-Ajmi became chairman of the West Asia paralympic federation after elections in Kuwait which saw the participation of 10 countries.
2012 -- Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al-Sabah announced that Kuwait donated USD 500 million to help development projects in Yemen. The sum would be distributed within a period of three years. (end) tg
