KUWAIT, July 27 (KUNA) -- 1960 -- The Amir Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah approves a decree changing the Finance Department name into the Department of Finance and Economy.
1975 -- Oil Ministry forms a committee to implement general policy for oil industries.
1980 -- Kuwait football team lost 2-1 to the Soviet Union in the quarterfinals of the Summer Olympic Games in Moscow.
1989 -- A delegation from Kuwait Engineers Society met with the Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah over the establishment of a state memorial.
1991 -- The first batch of crude oil was shipped following the liberation of Kuwait from Iraqi occupation.
1994 -- State of Kuwait and Syria sign an agreement to establish health insurance law for Syrians in Kuwait.
1998 -- Kuwaiti shooter Abdullah Al-Rashidi wins the gold medal in the world skeet championship in Barcelona, Spain.
2000 -- Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) signs a MoU with Qatar's petroleum corporation and Exxon Mobil to supply Kuwait with gas.
2002 -- The Public Authority for Youth and Sport establishes Kuwait Deaf club and Kuwait Bowling club.
2007 -- Kuwait Judo team wins the GCC championship with 22 medals; 14 gold, four silver and four bronze.
2008 -- Abdullah Boland and Sanad Ghuloom of Kuwait Disabled Sport Club won the gold medal in the 100m and 50m chest stroke in the US junior tournament, while Mohammad Al-Khalifa won the gold in weight lifting.
